SGRAFFITO CARVING- In Margaret River/ Dunsborough
SGRAFFITO CARVING
Description:
*Sgraffito carving is a technique Danica uses within her black painted homewares and tablewares - such as her Golden Wattle vases or Banksia Mugs. It is when you paint a slip or underglaze onto almost dry clay, and then carve it back with sharp tools to create an engraved white line/ design.
You may choose to pre draw a design you wish to transfer onto your plate (A4), trace around nature, or do simple linework, which often looks very striking. Danica will demo multiple techniques and give you ideas on the day.
During this workshop you will be making one larger plate and a mini side plate or nibble dish. We will discuss ways of making your own tools, and which ones work best for different effects.
