Salt or Pepper Spice Shaker
These unique porcelain salt shakers are handmade on the potter’s wheel and decorated with inlayed Australian plant designs such as Sheoak, Eucalyptus and Banksia. They are double walled, with a small funnelled spout inside, and a pinch sized opening underneath, allowing just the right amount of salt through. When gently shaken side to side the salt can’t tip out, only when shaken in an up and down motion, or tipped upside down and back, does the salt come out. The coarseness of salt, as well as the size of the opening underneath, determine the portion or ‘pinch’ size. For a larger pinch use finer salt, or pepper. These shakers can also be filled with dried herbs or even dukka.
To refill simply tip upside-down on a slight angle and slowly pour a small amount of your desired spice down the funnel while giving it a slight jiggle, so it travels up the inside walls. It holds a moderate amount, and the beautiful form fits perfectly into the hand.
Do not fill with water inside funnel. Wipe with damp cloth.
