Danica Wichtermann’s

work starts its humble beginning on the pottery wheel. Mounds of porcelain clay evolve to become a canvas for intricate carving and line work. Impressions from nature are used to create textures and patterns as part of her designs which are then inlayed with colour to create contrast.

The finished, glazed and fired pieces are works of art created to be functional, durable and safe for use.

I am in such awe of nature’s creations and the beauty that surrounds us. I am particularly drawn to our unique flowers, those that can be overlooked or hidden away. There is something special about trying to capture the essence of a thing of wonder.
